The inspiration behind this brand is a cult-favorite action movie from 1991 where robber surfers evade the FBI dressed in rubber face masks that resemble former presidents. This movie has everything - including a Spanish language catch phrase that lends itself well to tacos. “Vaya Con Dios” is now “Vaya Con Tacos” - at least to the people of Saugatuk, Michigan where this taco truck can be visited.
For this project, I was instructed to illustrate Swayze’s “frosted tips” which I tried very hard to do justice to. This branding is a combination of Celebs on Sandwiches and King of the Hill, with line drawings that are very reminiscent of the latter.
